Tint film is a thin flexible piece of plastic that is applied to a window to offer protection from sunlight, theft, and damages. This layering is made by melting down polyethylene terephthalate (PET) forming a thin transparent piece of material. This material is similar to Plexiglas, but is much thinner and more maneuverable. When melted down into a sheet, the sheet is stretched and pulled to match the glass it is being applied to. Once stretched, materials are added such as dyes, metal, or ceramics. A scratch resistant coating is attached followed by an adhesive binding that allows the layering to stick to a window.

A ceramic film is made much in the same way. PET is melted down to form a sheet of flexible plastic. Once the sheet is made a powder form of ceramic is added along with the scratch resistant coating and adhesive layering. What ceramic powder does is allows this barrier to block more of the sun’s harmful ultra violet rays without being dyed a darker color. Often, tint that is made to block more rays has to be a darker shade of color, but that allows sunlight to be blocked as well. With ceramic application, all natural light is still let in, but UV rays are restricted from crossing the barrier.

Window layering offers a certain amount of protection to any home. They offer scratch resistance to windows, so a customer can say good bye to annoying ticks and dings that come from debris hitting their windows. Tint film can be made in a darker shade if a customer wishes to have less obscurity into their home. This deters many burglars from attacking a location, because they cannot see what lies inside.
